PowerPoint Embed fonts(PowerPoint Basic Tutorial 1)

Microsoft 365 PowerPoint is the most widely used presentation software.

This tutorial is the first installment of the PowerPoint Basics series, providing guidance on how to embed fonts within a PowerPoint file.

01. Include fonts in PowerPoint.

When you create a PowerPoint (PPT) file using a newly installed font, if that font is not installed on another PC where the file is opened, the layout may break. This occurs because the system substitutes the missing font with a different one. To prevent layout issues, you need to save and share the presentation with the accompanying font files.

If you want to save fonts within a PowerPoint file, click on the [File] tab. This will bring up the screen shown above. From there, select [Options] at the bottom.

Then, the PowerPoint Options dialog box appears as shown above. Here, under the ‘Save’ section, at the bottom of ‘Preserve fidelity when sharing this presentation,’ check ‘Embed fonts in the file‘ This will ensure that the fonts used in the PowerPoint file are also saved when you save the presentation.

In PowerPoint files, you can include OpenType Fonts (OTF) and TrueType Fonts (TTF). OTF fonts are typically used for graphic design purposes, while TTF fonts are primarily utilized for document writing.

02. A site for downloading fonts.

If you’re looking to download fonts, there are several popular websites where you can find a variety of options:

  1. Google Fonts: Google Fonts offers a wide range of free fonts that you can use. You can easily integrate the chosen fonts into your website.
  2. DaFont: DaFont is a website that provides numerous free fonts in various styles and themes.
  3. Adobe Fonts (formerly Typekit): Adobe Fonts is an Adobe service that offers a collection of fonts. It’s free for Adobe Creative Cloud subscribers.
  4. Font Squirrel: Font Squirrel provides free fonts for commercial use and offers tools to help you apply fonts to your web pages.
  5. 1001 Free Fonts: 1001 Free Fonts offers a variety of free fonts in different styles and themes.
  6. Naver Fonts: Naver Fonts provides a variety of downloadable Korean fonts.

When downloading fonts, it’s crucial to carefully review the usage conditions and licenses associated with each font. While some fonts are freely available for both personal and commercial use, others may have restrictions based on specific purposes.
